Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals develop skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, improving relationships, and building a meaningful life.
DBT therapy focuses on measurable behavioural change through skills training, behavioural analysis, accountability, and the application of skills in daily life.
Includes:
- Skills coaching and treatment planning
- Review of diary cards and homework assignments when applicable
- Brief support regarding DBT skill implementation between sessions
DBT Therapy + Coaching Package
Designed for clients actively participating in DBT treatment who would benefit from additional support applying DBT skills in real-life situations outside of scheduled sessions.
Includes:
- Between-session DBT coaching support
- Paging access for skills coaching
- Assistance applying DBT skills during challenging situations
- Ongoing accountability and reinforcement of treatment goals
Coaching Call Structure
- Coaching contacts are brief and focused on skills use.
- Coaching calls typically last 3–5 minutes.
- The purpose of coaching is to identify and apply effective DBT skills, not to process emotions in depth or conduct a therapy session.
Not Appropriate for Coaching
- Emergencies
- Active suicide attempts
- Situations requiring immediate crisis intervention
- Requests for additional therapy sessions by text or phone
Important Note: Clients experiencing a crisis should contact 911, visit their nearest emergency department, or contact a local crisis service.
The goal of coaching is to strengthen independent skill use and increase confidence in managing difficult situations effectively between therapy sessions.
